We are all faced with an aging population in our parents, neighbors, friends, colleagues at work, and clients in the office with whom we must effectively interact. In my twenty years as a physician and teacher specializing in geriatric medicine, I have been in countless situations where communication issues with older persons were the crucial element in their own survival.
