The residue of childhood carries with it complex feelings about aging parents that limit objectivity, exaggerate responsibilities and increase emotional vulnerability.
This distorted landscape makes it impossible to receive the approval adult children desperately seek from their aging parents in their efforts to do the right thing.
Checkmate this zero-sum game with a transformative intention. Give yourself permission to do the best you can do today with what you have. No more. No less. Allow the rest to take care of itself.
